This graphic was saved in gif format even though it had much more than 256 colours. Gif format was chosen because the large areas of solid colour showed up artifacts when the graphic was saved in jpg format.

The tree and decorations were created using selections.

The sky was selected using the Point to Point Selection Tool and was flood filled.

The lady's jacket was selected using the Smart Edge Selections Tool and was flood filled.

The Edge Seeker Selections Tool was used to select the horse and Automatic Contrast Enhancement was applied to the selected area.

The Magic Wand Selection Tool was used to select the background which was then flood filled.

The Sun was selected using the Magic Wand Selection Tool. A filter was applied to the selected area; the selection was inverted to select the background; and then flood filled the background.

The hands and shirt sleeves were selected with the Magic Wand Section tool and a drop shadow was applied to the selection.
